Franchise Owner of CSK:
When BCCI established IPL in the year 2008, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was founded in the same year as an Indian Premier League (IL) franchise cricket team based out of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The CSK plays its home matches at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The franchise is owned by “India Cements Ltd.” The team is captained by ‘Thala’ MS Dhoni and coached by the New Zealand former captain Stephen Fleming.
At the end of 2019, if the reports are to be believed the CSK has a brand value of 2732 crore (roughly $104 million) making them one of the most valuable IPL franchise.

The Chennai Super Kings have won the IPL championship title 4 times in the year- 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021.
CSK has the highest winning percentage of matches among all other franchises in the IPL (58.98%).
They hold the records of most appearances in the playoffs (11 times) and the Finals (9 times) of the IPL.
The team has won its championship title in 2018 season in their come back season after getting suspended for two years from the IPL in 2016 and 2017.
Not only the IPL CSK also won the ICC T20 Champions League twice in the year 2010 and 2014.
CSK Rivalries:
Chennai Super Kings’ main rivalry is the 5 times champions Mumbai Indians (MI). CSK and MI are the two most successful franchises in the IPL and these two teams have played the most number of matches in the IPL tournament. They hold the record of playing the highest number of finals with each other. Of the 4 head on clashes Mumbai Indians won 3 times and once by Chennai Super Kings. Both the teams have created uncountable wow moments in the IPL history.
CSK’s rivalry with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is nothing less than MI. In 2011, RCB lost to CSK in the finals though RCB ranked #1 out of 8 teams in the season. CSK scored 205/5 and there was no catching up by RCB and they went on to lose by a margin of 58 runs.

MSD’s magic is the key again for CSK this year, his captaincy, batting, decision making, marching his troops, consistency. #thala Dhoni keeps saying that he always rely on the process than the match result.
From the recently held auction, CSK had gone all out to purchase Ben Stokes decision to strengthen the team.
It was a mixed tournament for the CSK in 2022, MSD handing over the captaincy to Jadeja (Jaddu) ahead of the matches and Jadeja handing it back to MSD in the middle of the tournament was not going in a right track for CSK. However they played well with the available resources last year. Deepak Chahar was not available for the entire year, top order batting did not click initially and Devon Conway played some crucial knocks at the end of the tournament but it was not enough to lift the franchise in the league table

CSK-the four times championship title winners has roped in South African fast bowler Sisanda Magala, as a replacement for the injured New Zealand player Kyle Jamieson for the upcoming IPL 2023. Sisanda Magala was unsold in the recently concluded auction for 2023 IPL is now picked at his base price of INR 50 lacs.
Earlier, CSK had bought Kyle Jamieson for INR 1 crore but he is now out of the tournament due to severe back injury and will miss this year entire season for CSK.
The South African fast bowler’s inclusion in the team will strength the all-round capability for CSK since he brings in a variety in the death bowling and could be promoted as pinch hitter in the game.
CSK Merchandise:
The Chennai Super Kings’ logo is a Lion Roaring in Orange and the team name rendered in blue. The crown on top of the team name came from the logo of the brand Coromandel King, the franchise cement brand. As the lion is the king of jungle, the CSK adopted the lion in the logo to venture out who the king of the tournament.

In the first match of TATA IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face the last year winner Gujarat Titans (GT) at NARENDRA MODI STADIUM, Ahmedabad at 7.30pm IST on Mar 31st, 2023.

In Summary, CSK is coming with all the vengeance this year as they were positioned 9th out of 10 teams last year. Speculations are on that this year could be the last year for MSD playing for CSK, as once he said he would retire from the IPL only after playing the match in Chepauk Stadium in front of CSK and MSD’s fans.
