About GT Franchise:

The franchise Gujarat Titans is a team based out of Ahmedabad, State of Gujarat. The franchise was fist founded in 2021, The franchise is owned by CVC Capital Partners as per the reports.

The team is captained by Hardik Pandya and. The Gujarat Titans are the current IPL champions, having won their maiden title in the 2022 season.

The management of Indian Premier League issued an invitation to tender for two more new sides in 2021.

The board had received a lot of bidding from different organization showing their interest, but with a high base price for the new teams, there were no more than six serious bidders at the end of the process. The BCCI allowed a consortium of three companies or individuals to bid for each franchise. CVC Capital Partners, a British private equity and investment advisory firm, won the rights to operate the Ahmedabad franchise with a bid of ₹5,625 crore (USD700 million) as per the reports.

CVC Capital Partners has won the Ahmedabad franchise in the auction that was held in Dubai in October 2021. Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, the franchise drafted Hardik Pandya as their captain and the franchise also picked Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan and it is coached by Ashish Nehra. The name Gujarat Titans was revealed on 9th Feb 2022 by the franchise.

Gujarat Titan’s Valuation:

As per reports after their victory in their debut IPL season the GT Franchise is valued at $850 million.

Victory lap of GT:

At the beginning of the season, Gujarat’s selection of players through their auction were not the favourites. and were considered weak, however the Titans surprised everyone with their performance after performance as the tournament progressed further, gaining their first win against fellow newcomers Lucknow Super Giants.

The win against Lucknow Super Giants was the first in their inaugural campaign, which saw the Titans eventually win 10 of their 14 group matches in the tournament, qualifying at the top of the table with 20 points. They then won the first qualifier against the Rajasthan Royals and fought again in the final after their qualifier win against Royal Challengers Bangalore

Gujarat Titans won the final by restricting RR team to 130 runs after they had been asked to bowl first by the Rajasthan Royals. The GT’s chasing down the target with 11 balls to spare, which included Shubman Gill hitting the winning six off the first ball of the 19th over. Hardik Pandya was adjudged the Man of the Match for his bowling figures of 3/17 and his 34 from 30 balls. Experts and commentary panels across the broadcasting team had praised Pandya’s captaincy, bowling, and batting, an all-round performance by the Captain and with many agreeing that he and the management used their players very well and worked as a team to win the championship title.

This win meant that Gujarat Titans became the second team to win the IPL in their very first season after the franchise Rajasthan Royals who won in 2008 IPL season.

Home ground: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

The Narendra Modi Stadium Cricket Stadium, also called as Motera stadium is the home ground for the franchise. It is one of the biggest and the beautiful stadium in the world. It is the largest stadium with a seating capacity of 132,000 spectators. Owned by the Gujarat Cricket Association and is a venue for all the formats of the cricketing tournaments like Test, ODI, T20, and Indian Premier League cricket matches.

As of 2022, the stadium has hosted 14 Tests, 27 ODIs, 6 T20 matches and 2 IPL matches including the finals of 2022 edition for which it got the Guinness Book of World Records for having the highest recorded match attendance at 101,566 spectators as per the reports.

On Feb 2021, the stadium was renamed as the Narendra Modi Stadium by the Gujarat Cricket Association after the current Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, a Gujarat native. It also hosted its first ever pink ball test match on 24 February 2021 between India and England, this is a significant moment for the Indian cricket.

Gujarat Titans Coach and Captain:

Hardik Panda’s captaincy and coach Ashish Nehra expertise paved the way for the championship title in the last season. The duo cracked the winning formula, and ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, the franchise drafted Hardik Pandya as their captain which raised eyebrows of many spectators and other team management. The franchise also picked Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan.

Pandya’s all-round performance and the leadership he had shown throughout the tournament has reflected in the Indian team as well. Hardik Pandya was also made as ODI and T20 captain when Rohit Sharma was rested.

2023 IPL Season and its expectations:

In this year 2023, GT has to prove yet again and be consistent in their performance. Ahead of the auction for 2023, the franchise had released some players and bought Kane Williamson, David Miller, Matthew Wade, Shivam Mavi and others.

IPL T20 2023 Gujarat Titan’s First match:

The GT franchise will play against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their opening match on 31st Mar 2023 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad at 7.30pm IST.

As per tradition of IPL, the defending champions will start the tournament and end the tournament in their home ground so considering that it also hosts the final matches of the tournament.
