Dear Viewers, today we are going to talk about relatively a new team Lucknow Super Giants which was introduced last year 2022. A most promising and energetic team under the leadership of KL Rahul to compete against the IPL Veteran teams.

About the Lucknow Super Giants Franchise:

The franchise Lucknow Super Giants, as the name defines it is based out of Lucknow in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The franchise was introduced in 2021, Sanjeev Goenka is the principal owner as per the reports.

This team is expected to play its home matches at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

As per reports the LSG franchise is currently valued around $1 billion

Victory lap of LSG:

The franchise had played only one season but with a promising result considering the other big players in the league. In the IPL auction the team had a very good purchase in which all-rounders were more in numbers. The franchise was able to secure players such as Quinton de Kock, Mark Wood, Krunal Pandya, Marcus Stoinis to their squad.

Later the franchise named KL Rahul as the captain of the team and the former left hander batsman Zimbabwean Andy Flower as the head coach for the season Franchise also appointed Gautam Gambhir as the mentor. In the first half of the 2022 season all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was not available due to the ongoing Australian series in his domestic tour but still the franchise put up a good show.

In its first season of IPL, LSG finished third in the table which earned their qualification for the playoffs. They faced fourth place Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator Match and were defeated by 14 runs. LSG scored only 193/6 against the RCB total runs of 207/4. The RCB batsman Rajat Patidar scored 112* in that match which paved the way for RCB to win the eliminator.

Home ground: Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium

The Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, also called as BRSAVB Ekana Cricket Stadium is the home ground for the franchise. The stadium was renamed from Ekana Cricket Stadium in honor of the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a former Indian Prime Minister.

It was established in 2017 with a seating capacity of 50,000 and it became the fifth largest international cricket stadium in India. In 2018, the stadium hosted its first international match, a T20 International between India and West Indies hence becoming the 52nd stadium in India to host an international cricket match.

As everyone is aware, the season 2022’s games were played mostly in the grounds allocated in Maharashtra especially in Mumbai and Pune predominantly.

In its debut season, the team was unable to play any of the matches at its home ground due to COVID-19 outbreak in India. The Lucknow Super Giants players are yet to play any of its match on home ground. Since this season in IPL 2023 will have the same format as seen earlier by all the IPL tournaments with home and away format so, it is expected that the team will be playing its home matches at this historic cricket stadium.

Coach and Captain of LSG:

KL Rahul’s captaincy and coach Andy Flower’s brilliance paved the way for the playoffs last season. This year is going to be vital for both coach and captain.  With KL Rahul’s current form and the leadership is going to be seen very closely by the fans, experts and of course by franchise as well.

KL Rahul will be under pressure to deliver good results this season as well considering good players in the team. With Quinton De Cock and Rahul himself will open the innings, it is going to be firecrackers for the franchise if their form is good and remember they will be playing atleast half of the season in their home grounds and no excuses for the franchise for not delivering good results.

2023 IPL Season and its expectations:

In this year 2023, Lucknow Super Giants has a very good team and they continue to play with their strength in both batting and bowling. With new additions like Nicholas Pooran who can play a hard hitting cricket, Jaydev Unadkat. Romario Shepherd, Daniel Sams and Amit Mishra.

This year Deepak Hooda who is in fantastic form and Krunal Pandya should come up with better results than last year. This team has the potential to put up a good fight against any odd teams in the tournament. Playing at home ground and the conditions suiting to their playing XI will be an added advantage for the franchise.
